Some of these dresses aren't too bad, but some of them aren't appropriate for prom. Im 17 and live in New Zealand, and some of these dresses wouldnt be allowed into my school ball. I think they can be no more than 4cm higher than the knee, and most of the midrift has to be covered. As far as im concerened, some of these dresses are more like party dresses rather than ball dresses, which should be classier. What happened to girls WANTING to wear big beautiful floor-length gowns? That's what I'm wearing to my ball this year. i save these kind of dresses for my friday nights out with the girls. Balls/proms are for being princesses, not being sexy :P
Okay first of all...most of these dresses are jiovani dresses. They are very exclusive classy dresses. In teenager's cases they just wear them completely wrong. I'm 17 and I went to my senior prom this year wearing a deep lowcut dress, HOWEVER, it's all in the way you wear it. I wasn't falling out, it was the beauty of the dress. The rest of my dress was completely covering my body and it was emaculate. It's really not these dresses we're talking about it's the teenagers. Some of those short dresses are so in right now...but your right it's not going to be too appealing when 17 18 year olds are wearing them with stripper heels, fishnets, and with their boobs hanging out. However that's not what these dresses were ever made for. Alot of these dresses aren't even that bad...it just depends how they fit a girl. If they fit how they're supposed to then they will look awesome.
OK, some of them aren't s bad... some are nice for more mature women... but when I was in high school (not so long ago), any of the very short dresses would only have been worn by a huge slut- or a girl who wanted to pretend to be one for the night.
What's with the high-waisted dresses with the poofy skirts that barely cover these girls' crotches? People put dresses that length on baby girls with the frilly underpants... kinda weird on a grown woman...
Also, does anyone else think number 28 totally looks like it has female genetalia on the front? I'm not saying it's suggestive or anything...
Toward the end, those dresses weren't even dress, (i.e the very last one, that looked like an advert for water). The first one, I agree, is slutty. I have no idea what is wrong with the third one; it's ankle-length and has straps, and the neck line isn't even bad! And some of the others ones considered 'slutty' are just tacky (i.e the balloon dress).
I've made it through a third of these and had to stop.
There were basically like.. 2 so far that were inappropriate?
What's wrong with with the author of this article? Most of the dresses are stunningly beautiful and classy. They are very current with my generation (I'm 16, getting ready for prom next week) and I would cry tears of happiness if someone had suggested that I could wear one of those. I see nothing wrong with most of them, and I think that you should trust your daughters. If you really have a problem with it, see if you can't compromise with her on another dress you both like.
And as far as the models go- they're models. Who cares if they're older? you're looking at the DRESS not the Woman.
Hey Clint,do you want those horrible fat people to "loose" the weight or to lose the weight? Because as far I know, one cannot loosen weight, unless you know something that I don't.
You are nothing more than a big talker. You haven't got the sack to actually say any of this to someone's face. It's easy to open your big, ignorant mouth when you've got the anonymity of the internet to protect your sorry ass. Maybe if you came up for air by coming out of your mom's basement once in a while, you would discover that the world is full of different types of people. Not to mention I bet you're just the perfect specimen of manhood yourself, aren't you? Go play in traffic and cleanse the gene pool, please. Dumbass.
I think I saw one "slutty" prom dress and the others were nice, one wasnt a dress at all. The author of this stupid article is a prudish boring wet noddle or just knows how to get traffic with promising pics of "slutty prom teens". In any case, what's so wrong about modern prom dresses? The body, if maintained, is a work of art that should be celebrated and adorned. You fat farts just like complaining when sexy people look better than you, and then you post these oppressive articles to justify your unhealthy fat flabs to make you feel better. Loose some weight and maybe you too can look slutty too, better than looking like a sweaty pile of whale blubber(SIC!).
Seriously some of the dresses push the limits, however they are all better then a bikini and we would let them wear that to the beach at 17. Styles change, we can't all be sticks in the mud, so if you trust you daughter, then shut up, you prolly bought the dress. If not be more involved!

Most of these dresses look like 1) dresses for MUCH older women than 18 year olds attending prom, and 2) Dresses that women would wear to the bars. Several of these dresses don't look half bad, although I can see how they ended up on this list...too short, baring midriff, showing too much boobage (which is not necessarily the same as cleavage). All in all, it comes down to each individual tastes and comfort levels....My mother didn't let me attend any functions similar to prom in anything sleeveless or above the knee...modesty! HOWEVER, that being said, there are a couple of dresses on this list that I might consider a daughter of mine wearing to a function like prom...not many though.
Um, frankly, I see 12 year olds wearing shorter shorts than that- not saying most of these dresses are appropriate. I don't think many of them are slutty. I was always taught that if it was above finger-tip length, it was inappropriate. The models have long legs, too. That's why they're models after all. Just not age appropriate.
Although some of the dresses seemed out of place for the "slut" connotation, the vast majority are not prom appropriate, which is to say not age appropriate. And several are what you'd see if you walked into a strip club -- and I know, I waitressed in one for a while! If parents let their daughters out of the house in clothing like that, it has a lot to say about what sort of parents they are, and less about their daughters. Girls are growing up and exploring their sexual boundaries, they will want to try those types of outfits to feel sexy. Parents should have enough sense to say no, and stick to it. Bring a little class back to prom, it should be elegant, not hooker-fabulous!
Oh wow, I wish I was in high school again. I would DESTROY some hot chick wearing these types of dresses. Oh, sorry moms, I forgot that all of your daughters are 'innocent good girls!' Ha ha dream on!!!
