It's things like this that further the "germophobe movement." Ridding the world of all bacteria, etc., would not do us any good. How else will our bodies learn to fight infections stemming from exposure to these bacteria? Get a life. And like the OP suggested, why don't you swab a few surfaces in your home and see what you find. I doubt it is pretty, but you are still alive and healthy, right?

I work at a Chuck E Cheese in Florida. They clean them nightly and inbetween parties or when we have a moment. Like someone previous said, they clean nightly and stay late too. I used to work at Cici's and Chuck E Cheese was cleaner, and cleaned alot more. Dr. Germ and that team, you guys should swab your houses and what not and I guarentee you that you would find just about the same things. Stop trying to petredise little childrens fun.

i really think as a grandmother that u all have points, but my point is, u all have too much time on your hands if this kind of thing is what u are doing, and well yes some kids might need to immune themselves, but there is also a thing called common sense, and that is what u should use, this is strictly information, and yet u all act like it is a personal attack on you and your chucky cheese personally, well i say. get a life, if u have nothing better to do, and yes everyone has germs, but some are very weak immune systems, because of disease or what not, so that WOULD cause them problems, even from the air, so u guys need to just do as YOU choose for your child, after all u are the responsible parties, and if u want them in those type germs, i say go for it, but if they DO get something bad there, u guys are gonna feel stupid, and actually i think u all are kinda silly for this anger, who does it help? Take the info offered and move on the way YOU choose. Anita

I worked at cec for over a year, and you know what we do clean those and stuff everynight before we leave. On fridays and saturdays we weren't supposed to close untill 11pm and sometimes we would be stuck there untill 1am cleaning. If your so worried about you kid getting sick home school them and never let them leave your house. I have a son that's almost 2 and I just brought him in there a week ago. Maybe our store is cleaner then the ones you went to, but I never got sick from working there. I got sick from being at my high school, but not from there. you can go to any public place and find the same germs. Kids gets sick let them play, have fun. Your kid will resent you when all there friends are at a cec birthday party, and they can't go because mommy doesn't want them getting a runny nose.

Gee!!! I wonder if Dr. Germ went and swabbed these hypochondriac parents homes, schools, vehicles, places of employment, etc. what kind of germs, viruses, bacteria, and infestations would he find? Not to mention what's in the drinking water!!! The majority of these people are just simple and stupid. They have waaaayyyy too much time on their hands.

Listen to the mooing and lowing of the breeders! CEC is just plain nasty, feral brats running loose, slack jawed parents. Why would anyone waste their money on that dump? *shudders*

I have BS degree in Medical Microbiology. The bacteria identified aren't your garden variety bacteria you find everywhere, these are known pathogens. While we are exposed to literally billions of harmless bacteria everyday, these non-pathogens will normally not cause infections in normal healthy people. Pathogenic bacteria are classified as such because they have much greater ability to cause infection in healthy people. Reasonable precautions will protect your child, and other children. Cover open wounds with bandages, don't take obviously ill children to places where they can transmit disease or be exposed to disease, wash hands after using bathroom facilities, wash hands and faces regularly when you are in environments where children have close contact with each other, don't allow your children to have contact with other children who are obviously ill, take seriously any sign of infection [fever, inflamed wounds] in a child, and make sure your children are vaccinated.

If any of you are seriously alarmed by this, you are ridiculous.... How in the world do you think you are going to KEEP a place germ free.... with 50 little kids running around... Do a test in your own home... or at the school for that matter... Germs exist... WASH YOUR CHILDS HANDS... Carry sanitizer with you... but don't be stupid...

Last February, we have a small birthday celebration at Chuck-E-Cheese for our youngest son who was turning two. We went and it was a good time, but not long after the phone started to ring. It was a domino effect of the stomach flu, and it was VICIOUS! Now, last month we went back, and we all started to get strep throat! Would it take to much out of one of the kids who work there to periodically disinfect their machines?! In the climbers you will find things like Klebsiella pneumoniae because kids who wear diapers are in there and they leak, and kids have accidents up in them too!

Parents do not get scared about this investigation, it is just a reminder to get tough on the hand washing, always carry with you lysol wipes, simple as that, nothing to be alarmed. She should have done the samething with her kitchen, mouth, car, her kids stroller. Remember HAND WASHING..LOLA Vignery, MD
