Yup figured you'd still posrenally be an ass, retire05. But I gave it a civil shot. Now, you deserve none. Anyone bothering to read the Huffpo level to which you've sunk on this debate may draw their own conclusions. From me? No quarter. And not a moment extra of my time.Reply
Roll Tide!!!!! I absolutely agree. As you know I was at the game and was so annyeod. Shula made some very poor choices and Tiffin can't kick worth a crap. I partly blame Tiffin. There was a guy behind us screaming some choice words at Shula. You would think that he would throw it after our kicker missed it. I think the running down the middle stuff is only good (at least with Darby) when you can be confident that your kicker will come through which was not the case on Saturday. Man, I am such a good fan!
Israel,Exactly! I wrote this post in part because I was gettnig frustrated with spending a lot of time crafting comments and then having them disappear. Like you I've sometimes pinged the owner of a blog and gotten a comment out of the Bermuda Triangle of Spam but that's a lot of effort and is simply not repeatable for any length of time.So you're right, not only are current comments lost but future comments are also lost because our desire to comment diminishes every time we invest time and effort for nothing. At present it doesn't seem like there is a comment system that everyone likes. I see a number of problems with a highly-fragmented commenting ecosystem both from a contribution and content perspective. In short, it feels like there's still room for some innovation in this area.
AJI had not considered the SEO ascetps of this. If Facebook allowed the comments to be stored locally, I think that could change things a bit as well. I dislike a hosted model because if you decide you want to change, you need to go through the whole export/import process. I also dislike the hosted model for the same reasons you mentioned, you become further reliant on them for traffic. That may be good, but considering it is not their main area of concern, it is not a great idea.
