I don't think there's any problem in asnkig that question. It lets people know that you are willing to help, and puts the ball in their court to ask for anything that they might think of. When I ask it as a home teacher, I'm usually thinking primarily of priesthood blessings or lifting something heavy. I can't think of any time that I have been asked to do anything that I considered inappropriate. I have done yard work, moved furniture, helped put a new roof on someone's house, helped people move, and even helped a woman break into her apartment once when she had locked herself out.I have found that most people are far too independent and proud to ask for help even when they need it, so I try to be more specific if I see a need. Since that can sometimes seem pushy or even insulting, I try to be careful about this. Also, I have found that sometimes people drop hints if you pay attention. When you get to know people you can usually tell when they need something.
I do ask people to stop what they're doing if they are being rude. Most of the time it works and they are erasmbsaed. I don't know what I would have done if he had ignored me! Lol. You want to be the bigger person, but you also want to smack them. I love your rule about grandma! Haha! That's sweet about Colton! Way to go for raising such awesome kids, Katie!
Hey Mark,I never understood the ftanicasion with VC Andrews. My ex-bff LOVED those books, but I read a couple of paragraphs and got the nausea headache I usually get when I read bad writing (first time was with Jackie Collins). I will be pushing your stories to the current crop of zombie-fanatics (due to Walking Dead on AMC), so hopefully your numbers will improve.Understand about Chaz. I was hysterical for two days when Dad put Roxy down, and then I was depressed for a few weeks. She was 15, like Chaz. It'll take time, but the good thing is that every now and again, when the !@?$# is hitting the fan, Chaz will show up in your dreams and it'll feel great.
This is so neat! I wish I had thought of it when we were doing our Around the World year. We (sadly now that I think about it) just cleorod in flags. How boring! You breathed such life into it.Thanks for sharing this with us!-Phyllis
