sometimes i ask my visiting tecahers to visit while i clean. don't want them to help clean. just to keep me going. i used to ask my home teacher to take toys home with him. grandson was growing out of them and he had a boy a bit younger. he usually took some.my favorite was asking visiting tecahers to go to the liquor store for moving boxes. they laughed and thought i was kidding. i explained that i was serious. those are the best moving boxes. they still thought i was kidding, because i could not seriously expect them to go near a liquor store. they would not do it.

I used to use it, but I found it doesn't play well with Microsoft Exchange. Exchange is, from my perspective, spehpid in a broken state relative to the RFCs, in that the 450 messages aren't correctly respected. Among other things. So when I use greylisting I find that it reduces spam, and legitimate mail. All those folks saddled with Exchange can't really handle greylisted sites without something else like postfix in front of it. We got lots of ticked off customers who couldn't contact us via email. So I pulled off greylisting on all machines. I now use spf and a few other things. I am noticing many more email spam messages using domain keys. I also noted many in the past using some of the other technologies. Greylisting does work, but it requires RFC-adherent MTAs for it to work for everyone.

It's a paid service, but it frees you not only from spam, but also from the halsse to check periodically the Spam folder SpamStopsHere. They filter out spam messages at the smtp level before messages reach your inbox. They are very effective and false positives are just a remote possibility. However you cannot miss legitimate emails that senders think they have correctly delivered to you because SpamStopsHere sends an SMTP level reject message when they block a message. As you cannot miss a legitimate message without the sender being instantly informed by a reject message you don't also need a Spam folder to review periodically. As it's the only service of this kind I found my only fear using their service is what happens if they quit the market or double their prices?

An interesting take could be using the spmamer technique of placing an html link to a picture with a unique id the would send back a ping identifying the user just by the recipient opening the email. This would take more responsibility away from the recipient. It is true that everybody doesn't have HTML email, so that you would have to still allow replies to validate email. The possibility of the emailer using someone else's email address would have a more drastic effect with this idea also, being the email would just have to be opened, a positive response would be given even if the person really wasn't the sender of the email. But it is still an interesting twist on the idea.
